Word order in Serbian imperative sentences

Order in Imperative Sentences |
Imperative sentences are used in contexts when you want to
tell someone:
- what to do, as in a affirmative command: e.g. ‘Pevaj!'
('Sing!')
- what not to do: e.g. ‘Nemoj pevati!’ (‘Don’t
sing!’)
- when you’re making a suggestion: e.g, 'Hajde da
pevamo!' (‘Let’s sing!')

The word order in imperative sentences is:
Verb + Object + Optional elements.
Some examples:

Vidi ovu knjigu! |
'Look at this book!' |

Ne gledaj ovaj film! |
'Don’t watch this film!' |
In the first example, we have an imperative verb ‘vidi’
(look), plus the object noun phrase ‘ovu knjigu’
(this book).
In the second example, we have the negative imperative verb
‘ne gledaj’ (don’t
watch), plus the object noun phrase ‘ovaj
film’ (this film).
So, the word order is the same as in declarative sentences,
except that here, the subject is always omitted, just like
in English and many other languages.
